How To Be A Trade Show Pro Seminar Successful!

The message was powerful at the How To Be A Trade Show Pro seminar on Thursday, November 8, 2007. The seminar, sponsored by the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce, was conducted at Iroquois Regional Health Center in Watseka. Twenty-two attended the educational seminar to learn how to benefit from participating in a Business Expo or Trade Show.

The seminar was conducted by Randy Longest. Longest is a former Iroquois County native. Longest is the National Account Marketing Manager for Monsanto and resides in Marysville, Ohio with his wife, Terri. Longest is a veteran of over 200 trade shows.

The evening began with a dinner provided by Connie & Mike Smith of Celebrations. Throughout the evening, Longest spoke about the three phases of a successful show: pre-planning, working the show, and post show activity and follow-up. Longest elaborated on important topics such as having the proper attitude, being approachable, and being active while at an Expo, why it’s important to pre-plan your booth design, drawings, literature, and giveaways, and why it’s critical to follow-up with potential clients or customers who attended the show.

An exercise was also conducted in which the participants were able to prepare fictional businesses for the upcoming Business Expo using the tools and tips given throughout the seminar.

Participants left with the knowledge and confidence to successfully prepare for the upcoming 2008 Business Expo. The Business Expo is set for March 29 & 30 at the Watseka High School. Registration forms will be available at the end of November.
