Downtown full of fall flowers

With fall just around the corner, the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce has begun working on their fall decorating projects. Bright yellow and magenta mums have been planted in the flower barrels throughout downtown Watseka. Volunteers from The Arc of Iroquois County spend Tuesday morning planting the flowers. The Chamber owns 32 barrels. The flowers in the barrels are changed three times a year, in the spring, fall, and winter. The barrels are maintained by the assistance of several community businesses and employees.

“There are several individuals who assist the Chamber everyday in water and maintaining the flowers in the barrels. We are thankful for all these individuals for their dedication to our community and its appearance,” stated Darcey Smith, Executive Director of the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce.

“A big thank you to those volunteers from the Arc who have worked so hard at planting our fall flowers. They look great,” Smith added.

The flower barrels are projects through the Chamber’s Economic Revitalization Committee. For more information on this project, the committee, or any other Chamber event, please contact the Chamber office at (815) 432.2416.
