Chamber Kicks Off Business After
Hours
On
Wednesday, September 5, 2007, ninety-three Chamber members and guests
attended Business After Hours hosted by Watseka Area Chamber of
Commerce. The event was conducted at the Legion Home in Legion Park in
Watseka. This Business After Hours is the first after taking the summer
months off. To celebrate the return of the monthly event, the Chamber
conducted a kick-off cook-out catered by Celebrations. Darcey Smith,
Chamber Executive Director, welcomed all members, employees, and guests.
Smith welcomed five new members to the Chamber over the summer including
Light Printing of Sheldon, JDL Graphics of Clifton, Slip Into Style,
Cuco’s Family Restaurant, and Farmers Insurance Shoaf Agency, all of
Watseka.
Smith,
then, introduced Chuck Bohlmann, President of the Watseka Area Chamber
of Commerce Board of Directors. Bohlmann took the opportunity to
introduce the other 14 members of the Board. Board Members include: Vice
President Rhonda Pence, Treasurer Joan Cook, Cheryl Bohlmann, Craig
Gocken, Amanda Hettinger, Justin Kaiser, Janice Lubben, Darlene McGehee,
Todd Myers, Jeff Petersen, Jamie Rickard, Scott Schunke, Brent Ulitzsch,
and Lauri Zumwalt. Each Board member spoke briefly about the Committee
they chair including upcoming events and activities.
Bohlmann also took the opportunity to speak about the upcoming Illinois
Chamber of Commerce Week. Governor Blagojevich declared Chamber of
Commerce Week in Illinois as September 10-14, 2007. The Watseka Area
Chamber of Commerce would like to salute all its members and take this
opportunity to thank them for their investment in the Watseka area.
Connie
Cluver of C&C Plumbing & Heating won the Chamber’s 50/50 drawing. The
Chamber also gave away 3 door prizes. Tom Jones of TJ’s Signs and Awards
and Susie Boomgarden of Speckman Realty GMAC each won $25 in Chamber
Currency, while Gary Martin of Limu Company won $50 in Chamber Currency.
Business After Hours is a program of the Watseka Area Chamber of
Commerce, designed to provide networking opportunities for area
businesses and organizations, as well as to help promote the community
