Iroquois Federal Hosts Business
After Hours
Wednesday,
September 6, 2006 kicked off the new season of Business After Hours for
the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce. Eighty-nine Chamber members and
guests attended the event hosted by Iroquois Federal Savings & Loan of
Watseka. The event was held at the Iroquois Federal Office Building in
Watseka. Darcey Smith, Chamber Executive Director, welcomed all members,
employees, and guests.
Smith
began by introducing Jeff Petersen of Iroquois Memorial Hospital as the
newest Chamber Board of Director. Smith spoke briefly about upcoming
Chamber events, including the Economic Revitalization Committee planting
fall mums in the downtown barrels. Smith, also, spoke about the new Chat
Up The Chamber contest for all members to take part in. The contest is
designed to allow current members the opportunity to bring potential new
members with them to Business After and Before Hours as their guest.
Chuck Bohlmann, Vice President of Iroquois Memorial Hospital, introduced
their new gynecology specialist, Dr. Rebecca Salvani. Several members
took the opportunity to mention their upcoming events. Darcey Smith
mentioned that IMH would be celebrating their 90th anniversary with an
upcoming open house celebration on September 30th. Cheryl Bohlmann noted
that Main Street Gifts would be celebrating their 20th anniversary at
the end of September. Jean Hiles noted that the Iroquois County
Historical Society will host their annual Harvest Days Fall Festival
this October 7-8, 2006. Lauri Zumwalt mentioned that her Chamber Seminar
Committee is looking for volunteers to serve on that committee.

Smith,
then, introduced Alan Martin, President of Iroquois Federal Savings &
Loan. Martin acknowledged the hard work of the employees with
preparations for the Business After Hours, including Rhonda Pence who
headed up the preparations. In addition to the bank, Iroquois Federal
has their own financial services department, Iroquois Financial, and
their own insurance department, Iroquois Insurance Agency. Martin
announced the upcoming addition to Iroquois Federal and Iroquois
Financial. Robert Cotter will begin assisting customers in Missouri with
loans and mortgages, as well as financial planning and investments. This
new addition will take place around November 1, 2006. For more

John
Cook of Travel Discoveries won the Chamber’s 50/50 drawing. Iroquois
Federal offered three door prizes. Those prizes were won by Deanna
Martin of Limu Company, Jean Hiles of Iroquois County Historical
Society, and Lauri Zumwalt of KCC Satellite Center.
Business After Hours is a program of the Watseka Area Chamber of
Commerce, designed to provide networking opportunities for area
businesses and organizations, as well as to help promote the community
