2007 Lil’ Mr & Miss Firecracker Announced

A total of 8 children entered the 2007 Lil’ Mr & Miss Firecracker contest. This year’s contest consisted of a coloring contest for area children ages 4 through 7.

Lil Mr Firecracker is Zachary Rice of Crescent City Illinois. Zachary is 5 years old and will begin kindergarten in Crescent City this fall. Zachary is the son of Earl and Lisa Bowers-Rice.

Lil Miss Firecracker is Olivia Powell of Watseka Illinois. Olivia is 7 years old and will begin 2nd grade in Watseka this fall. Olivia is the daughter of Timmy Joe & Debra Sue Masters Powell.

“It was a tough decision for our judges. Every picture that was turned in was full of color and creativity,” stated Darcey Smith, executive director of the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce.

The winners will ride in the 2007 City of Watseka Independence Day Parade on July 4th beginning at 11:00 a.m. Members of the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will accompany the winners in the parade. All of the coloring sheets will be on display at the Chamber office, located at 206 E. Walnut Street in Watseka.
