Two Businesses Host Business After Hours

On Wednesday, January 3, 2007 Chamber members and guests attended Business After Hours hosted by H&R Block and Watseka Sign Company, both located at 1801 North State Route 1 in Watseka. Darcey Smith, Chamber Executive Director, welcomed all members, employees, and guests.

Smith announced the winners from the recent Chat Up The Chamber contest that was held during Business After and Before Hours in September through December 2006. Amanda Hettinger of Watseka Rehab & Health Care Center won $25.00 in Chamber Currency in the first drawing. That drawing consisted of names of all the members who brought a guest with them. Robert Cotter of Iroquois Financial Services won $25.00 in Chamber Currency in the second drawing. That drawing consisted of five names of the members who tied with the most guests brought with them. The big winner of the evening was Amanda Hettinger when she won $180 towards her 2007 membership. Amanda brought the most guests who ended up joining the Chamber by the end of 2006.

Smith, then, introduced Grace Carmichael of H&R Block and Carol Kaufmann of Watseka Sign Company. Grace and Carol both welcomed everyone to their new location.

Carol has owned and operated Watseka Sign for 15 years. Carol produces custom signs and designs. Watseka Sign also specializes in window lettering and vehicle graphics. Carol is currently working on the new Welcome To Watseka signs for the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce and City of Watseka.

Grace has been with H&R Block for 30 years. She has been the franchise owner in Watseka for 12 years. H&R Block specializes in all types of tax returns including individuals, business, farmers, and more.

Mark Burdick of The Little Shop & Reel to Real Theaters won the Chamber’s 50/50 drawing.
