Bob Burd of Country Insurance hosts
Business After Hours
On
Wednesday, December 5, 2007, ninety Chamber members and guests
attended Business After Hours hosted by Bob Burd of Country
Insurance. The event was conducted at their new office building
located at 100 N. Tenth Street in Watseka. Darcey Smith, Chamber
Executive Director, welcomed all members, employees, and guests.
Smith reminded all attendees that Mistletoe Magic will be December
13th from 9am to 10pm. Mistletoe Magic will be the last
Chamber-sponsored shopping event before Christmas. Smith also
mentioned that the January 2008 Business After Hours has been pushed
back one week due to the New Year holiday. The next Business After
Hours will be held on January 9, 2008 at Iroquois County Historical
Society.
Smith,
then, turned it over to Bob Burd. Burd introduced Lisa Brutlag,
office manager, Wayne Anderson and Tim Santefort, agents for Country
Insurance, as well as Kurt Albers of Russell Leigh & Associates, all
who relocated their offices to the new facility. Burd mentioned that
all offices were moved into their new building before Halloween.
Burd credited his wife, Julie, with the interior decorating for
their new building.
Crissie Sears of Slip Into Style won the Chamber’s 50/50 drawing.
Bob Burd gave away three door prizes to three lucky winners. Jim
Knecht of First Trust & Savings Bank and Lorie Taylor of Security
Finance each won a poinsettia plant for the holiday season. Justin
Kaiser of WGFA Radio won a greenery centerpiece for the holidays.
Canned good donations were accepted at the door for the Watseka Area
Food Pantry.
Immediately
following the brief program, the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce
Board of Directors conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony in
celebration of the opening of the new facility.
