Business After Hours Breaks Attendance Record

On Wednesday, April 4, 2007, three-hundred twenty-five Chamber members, guests, and members of our community attended the Business After Hours and Community Mid-Remodel Open House hosted by Iroquois Memorial Hospital. The event was conducted at their East Campus on Laird Littlefuse Lane in Watseka. Darcey Smith, Chamber Executive Director, welcomed all members, employees, and guests. Smith also mentioned that this was the biggest attendance for an After Hours.

Smith reminded all Chamber members that tickets are currently on sale for the May 2nd Annual Meeting & Awards Night. The Banquet will, again, be held at the Iroquois County Fairgrounds beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Chamber will once again be honoring a business and a staff member with awards. Nominations are being accepted for this year’s Business Leadership Award and Staff Achievement Award. Nomination forms can be obtained from the Chamber office or on-line at www.watsekachamber.org.

Smith, then, introduced Chuck Bohlmann, Vice President of Iroquois Memorial Hospital. Bohlmann introduced Jeff Petersen who will be Director at the new Iroquois Regional Health Center. Bohlmann announced that the departments will be moving into their new facility sometime in May. Departments making the move will include Iroquois Home Care, Home Health, Hospice, and all Sports Medicine, Speech, Occupational, and Therapy Departments. Bohlmann also thanked several hospital staff members who worked very hard to plan and prepare for the event.

Mayor Jim Ward of the Village of Crescent City won the Chamber’s 50/50 drawing. Throughout the evening, attendees were able to take a self-guided tour or join a group tour.

Business After Hours is a program of the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce, designed to provide networking opportunities for area businesses and organizations, as well as to help promote the community through the success of its members.
